The Grow in Freedom mural was created by artists Teresa Sdralevich (Belgium), Mishel and Nicol Feldman (Ukraine) as part of the PARCOURS Street Art and “THE WALL project: Murals Across Europe”, organised by Port.agency and initiated by the Ukrainian Institute in collaboration with CHU Saint-Pierre.

The Grow in Freedom mural brings together images and symbols linked to Belgium and Ukraine. The font used in the mural is Abetka, designed by Heorhiy Narbut, a leading Ukrainian illustrator and designer. The two figures in the mural are linked to Ukrainian tradition and are drawn in the colours of the flag. The eye symbolises the visual vocabulary that makes it possible to overcome differences of language and cultural origin to enter into dialogue. The clouds are a reference to the Belgian artist René Magritte. The poppy and the iris, which symbolise the two countries, are a tribute to the aid and cooperation provided by the CHU Saint-Pierre to the Ukrainian authorities.

The two artists worked hand-in-hand to create a work that best reflects their collaboration.
