This fresco was created in May 2019 by artist Fred Lebbe to mark the 450th anniversary of the death of painter Pieter Bruegel. Ten fresco offerings have been created, grouped together along a route known as the “Parcours Bruegel” in Marolles. Each artist was given the task of reinterpreting a work by the Flemish master.
This fresco was inspired by “The Fall of the Rebel Angels, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, 1562, oil on wood, 117 x 162 cm, Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels, Belgium”.
Fred Lebbe on his work: “I have chosen a sequence for this work, in which the pictorial universe speaks to me, my challenge will be to interpret it as faithfully as possible with the current technique of aerosol painting. A way to pay tribute to Bruegel’s technical prowess.”
