This piece is the work of French artist Nadège Dauvergne. For several years now, she has been developing a unique drawing technique: a succession of colored hatchings that reveal all the chromatic richness of her creations. From a distance, the vibrant colors of the mural stand out, and as you get closer, each individual color emerges.
For this work, Nadège Dauvergne has taken into account the specific context in which it is set. In the public space, it enters in dialogue with the work of Belgian painter Jean-Baptiste Van Moer (1819-1884), known for his depictions of the Brussels canal and the districts that disappeared when the Senne was vaulted. The reference painting, entitled Magasin près du Moulin Saint-Michel, illustrates the Brussels canal at the junction of Haren and Vilvoorde. The painting is part of the Brussels City Museum collection.
This project was carried out in partnership with the City of Vilvoorde and Border Buda, marking the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Buda Bridge.
