This work was created by the artist Vincent Glowinski, also known as Bonom. It is located in a neighborhood that is important to the artist, where he has been expressing himself for fifteen years. Some of his works are still on display, including one opposite the current mural, on the facade of the houses, entitled “Anges” (Angels). The mural along the Gare de la Chapelle station is an aerial view of the neighborhood, showing the new infrastructure of the Parc des Brigittines, as well as some of Vincent Glowinski’s works (self-citation). Among these works are the mammoth, which refers to the skeleton that the artist created on Louis Morichar Square in Saint-Gilles, and the pterodactyl, a motif that recurs regularly in his work and can be seen at the high points of Vlaamsestraat and Alexiusstraat.
This work is a reinterpretation of the neighborhood by the artist, brought to life by this surreal animal kingdom that is so characteristic of his work.
This mural was commissioned by VisitBrussels as part of the Belgian Presidency of the EU in 2024.
