Jean-Marc dos-Santos, aka Alto, trained in graphic arts at EPSAA and illustration at Duperré, and has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer in a wide range of fields (illustration of covers and packaging, posters, visual identity, lettering, etc.). His interest in semiology (the study of signs) has enabled him to develop working methods that he has subsequently applied to his various disciplines, from graphic design and illustration to street art. In this work, he combines weft and motifs with sublimated lettering and draws inspiration from Oulipian literature. All this led him to develop his approach to his profession and to set up his own workshop – Atelier Alto – which has enabled him to juggle these three activities for the last ten years.
