Fabien Hupin alias NEAN, a 26-year-old self-taught Brussels artist, made his debut on paper before turning to spray paint. A brilliant portrait artist, he expresses his talent through the medium of graffiti. In 2014, he joined the Propaganza collective, with whom PARCOURS Street Art has already collaborated, and which brings together various artists from Belgium, France, England and Spain. Influenced by traditional painting and digital art, his work gravitates between an experimental and photo-realistic style. The subjects represented by the artist are far removed from the traditional codes of graffiti and the only characteristic that links him to this practice is the use of spray cans. He further develops his work on large scale supports, alternating between digital painting, wall painting and painting on canvas. These works testify to his interest in art forms other than graffiti. The artist claims to be influenced, both in technique and subjects, by more traditional works by painters such as Gustave Klimt, Egon Schiele, Toulouse-Lautrec, but also by poster artists such as Alphonse Mucha and street art. Naturally, street artists have also had an influence on him, he cites Robert Proch, Jaw, Da Mental Vaporz and Aryz as examples. NEAN is an artist who combines the traditional codes of art in his work and blends it with modern techniques. He is a genuine zeitgeist, reflecting the spirit of the age.
