Originally from Cape Verde, Nelson dos Reis was born in Ottignies Louvain-La-Neuve in 1978 and then spent fifteen years in a Paris suburb, where he took visual art classes. He returned to Belgium in 2002, and organised his first exhibitions there. He then joined the Farm Prod collective, with whom he collaborates alone or in groups on various works (canvases, frescoes, live painting etc.) in various locations and countries. Nelson dos Reis’ paintings are often very colourful and solid. He draws inspiration from subjects from his daily life, as well as iconic figures from black culture, and transposes them into a whimsical and colourful universe, at the limit of abstraction and the figurative.
