This mural was created in May 2019 by the Hell’O Monsters collective to mark the 450th anniversary of the death of painter Pieter Bruegel. Ten fresco offerings have been created, grouped together along a route known as the “Parcours Bruegel” in Marolles. Each artist was given the task of reinterpreting a work by the Flemish master.
This fresco was inspired by the work “Patienta, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, 1557, engraving, 33.9 x 43.5 cm, Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Netherlands”.
Hell’O Monsters on their work: “Patientia by Bruegel is an allegory of patience (concretising abstract ideas), our intention was to work on a counter-allegory. To isolate elements of the original work that seemed interesting to us and translate them into simple, balanced and colourful geometric shapes.”
