Historique
To mark the 450th anniversary of the death of the painter Pieter Bruegel.
Inspiration: “Landscape with the Flight into Egypt” (painting)
Statement of intent: “The ferryman” The fresco represents a couple trying to cross the border of an imaginary, lush and welcoming Europe. A ferryman is waiting for them a little further away to guide them.
Installed in one of the most cosmopolitan districts of Brussels, this work celebrates the movements of populations, as has been the case since time immemorial.”
