Alaa Satir

Born in 1990 inKhartoum,Sudan, Alaa Satir is a Sudanese visual artist, known for her illustrations,murals,caricatures andcomics depicting images relating towomen’s rights, theSudanese revolutionand other social and political issues in contemporary Sudan. Since her first exhibition in Khartoum in 2017, and in particular thanks to her murals painted during theSudanese Revolution, highlighting the important role of women in this revolution, she has gained an international reputation as an artist and campaigner for freedom of expression, social justice and women’s rights. She is a member of Cartooning for Peace.
