13PULSIONS is one of the three winners of the call for projects launched by the City of Brussels in July 2018 for the beautification of three public toilets. This type of project had already been launched in the past and was a great success. 13PULSIONS, François Tusséki and Tarik Bouanani have been chosen to decorate a toilet block at the foot of the Atomium, at the end of the Boulevard du Centenaire and at Place Anneessens. The work is a surreal and colourful metaphor for the city of Brussels. A city that can be experienced as magical and fascinating, or as disenchanted and dreary. The characters depicted would like to believe that it is unique and mysterious, but on closer inspection, the city is just like most other cities. It also has its own laws, similarities and challenges. The project refers to a series of well-known elements of Belgian (and Brussels) culture to highlight its uniqueness in the mainly touristy Atomium district.
